Assistant Conductor

Description of vacancy: 

The Harry Ensemble wishes to appoint an assistant conductor for the 2022 season. The person appointed would be trained and mentored by the artistic director in all aspects of choral training, vocal health and technique, score preperation, rehearsal direction and performances.

The choir would also be keen to support the right candidate in sitting one of the diploma examinations in music direction by the ABRSM as part of its season. It is anticipated that the assistant conductor would also become a singing member of the ensemble for the season.

The assistant conductor will receive renumeration towards travel expenses and any public performances directed as part of the season. Please note that the ensemble will tour to Eire in the 2022 season and the assistant conductor would be expected to be present. 

The Harry Ensemble is a chamber sized mixed choir who promote British choral music through performances outside of the UK. The ensemble has performed in Russia, Spain, USA, Iceland, Norway and Sweden, where it has performed country specific premieres of works by James MacMillan, Paul Mealor, Bob Chilcott, Cecelia McDowall amongst others. It's next tours are Eire (22) and Tuscany (23) as part of it's 10th anniversary celebrations.

The ensemble rehearses monthly from January -  October and performs occasionally in the UK in Berkshire, Wiltshire and London. The ensemble is directed by it's artistic director, Edward-Rhys Harry.
