Description of vacancy:

Wetherby Choral Society are seeking to appoint a new accompanist for September 2024. WCS is a non-auditioned SATB choir of 100 singers who perform four concerts each year with orchestra and professional soloists in Wetherby Parish Church. Our most recent concert celebrated 50 years since the founding of the choir with a performance of Vaughan-Williams Sea Symphony and a full list of concerts can be found on our web-site http://www.wetherbychoral.org.uk Rehearsals take place in Wetherby Parish Church on Monday evenings from 7.30-9.30p.m. from September to the end of June. We have been led by John Dunford for the last 31 years and his infectious enthusiasm and energy make rehearsals and performances entertaining, thrilling and memorable. We require someone that shares our love of the English choral tradition and who will relish the prospect of accompanying repertoire from the last 400 years. They should be a fluent pianist with good sight-reading and score-reading abilities, preferably with experience of the demands of choral accompaniment. Opportunities exist for playing continuo at concerts, though this is not essential.

Short-listed candidates will be invited to accompany a regular rehearsal as part of the selection process. Remuneration and contract period are negotiable, and subject to an annual review. Please send a letter of application and CV to secretary@wetherbychoral.org.uk from whom full details about this position including remuneration are available.  Closing date for application is May 18th.
