New beginnings for Westminster Music Library

Alex Peringer updates us on Westminster Music Library's relocation and restructuring over the past year.

Westminster Music Library has sadly been closed for much of 2020 due to essential building works on our site at Victoria Library. While we greatly regret the disruption to our service and inconvenience to our users that this has caused, we have been taking the opportunity to relocate the Music Library to an exciting new location within Westminster Reference Library, near Leicester Square.

There it will join specialist Art, Design, Theatre, Dance and Film collections to form a new public hub for the arts in the heart of London’s West End. As well as giving us more room for materials and study space, the new location will accommodate a busy cross-disciplinary events schedule with performances, talks and workshops, and we will be expanding our offer with new resources including music production workstations.

We are working hard to reopen in Spring 2021 and look forward very much to welcoming both new and returning customers. In the meantime, although most of our collection is not available, our orchestral performance sets can still be hired and our online resources including the Naxos Music Library and Music Journals Database are accessible 24/7.
