Paying It Forward - celebrating the legacy of C V Stanford

Pangbourne Choral Society

This concert includes a variety of pieces in celebration of the work and influence of Charles Villiers Stanford who died on 29th March 1924. The works chosen represent composers from the 19th and 20th centuries who influenced Stanford e.g. Brahms & Sullivan plus a number of the composers that he influenced directly or indirectly.

Works include the 2nd movement of Brahms' German Requiem, Hiawatha's Wedding by Samuel Coleridge Taylor and Stanford's Magnificat and Nunc in C.

Also we have James Gilchrist performing Lake Isle of Innisfree and Loveliest of Trees by Muriel Herbert as well as the solo part in Hiawatha's Wedding.

We are supported by Southern Sinfonia. See our website for more information.
