Otčenáš and Carols for Choir and Audience

Christmas is definitely coming and we are looking forward to our Christmas Concert.  We do so hope you will join us on Saturday 16 December. There will be lots of lovely carols, with plenty of opportunities to sing along. We will be joined by the talented tenor Alex Hume, and accompanied by our own Colin Spinks, as well as the Royal Harpist Alis Huws. Both Alis and Alex performed at the Coronation! The centrepiece of the concert is Otčenáš, by the Czech composer Janáček.

 Otčenáš – Our Father - is a mesmerising setting of the Lord’s Prayer, for choir, tenor soloist, harp and organ.  It is seldom performed in the UK so should be a special treat. The combination of instruments complement each other beautifully and Janáček’s distinctly human approach to the words shines through with a varied and exciting musical palette. There are moments of atmospheric calm but also heroic music for the tenor soloist.

Conducted by the brilliant Harry Bradford, it should get you into the Christmas spirit.
