The Passing of the Years: 40th-anniversary concert

Petros Singers

We are thrilled to be celebrating four decades of making music together at our ‘home’ in St Peter’s Hammersmith. This special concert will feature Jonathan Dove’s song cycle, The Passing of the Year, along with some old favourites including works by Brahms, Chilcott, Pearsall and Rachmaninoff.

You will also hear the premiere of an exciting new work that we have commissioned from award-winning composer, Kerensa Briggs. Her music has been performed internationally at venues including St Paul’s Cathedral and the Sistine Chapel, and is regularly broadcast on BBC Radio 3, Classic FM and BBC Radio Scotland by ensembles such as The Tallis Scholars and the BBC Singers.

We are proud to raise money through collections at our concerts for London Youth Choirs, supporting their mission to unlock young people’s potential through the power of choral singing. We are delighted that LYC West and their director Olivia Shotton will be joining us to help celebrate our 40th anniversary.

We look forward to welcoming you to what promises to be a memorable evening.

Petros Singers is West London’s leading amateur chamber choir. We perform a wide variety of music – from baroque to contemporary, from large-scale works to exquisite miniatures – placing particular emphasis on vibrant and communicative singing.

Richard Bannan (our musical director) was a choral scholar at Clare College, Cambridge before embarking on a career as a professional vocal musician, arranger and teacher. He now sings as a Lay-Clerk at St George’s Chapel, Windsor and with many of the country’s major professional ensembles.
