Handel:Samson
North Herts Guild of Singers
Join us, the period orchestra Musica Donum Dei and a stellar group of young soloists for a performance of Handel’s oratorio, Samson, widely regarded as one of his finest dramatic works. An old story full of love, betrayal, warring factions and ultimate sacrifice, this epic tale is met with music of an equally epic scale, wonderfully demonstrating the many and varied colours of Handel’s compositional palette. No such example is better than the famous soprano aria ‘Let the Bright Seraphim’ which shows Handel at his triumphant best before the similarly exultant chorus ‘Let their celestial concerts all unite’. All conducted by our own prize-winning conductor Harry Bradford. It promises to be a thrilling evening of Handellian brilliance and we look forward to seeing you there.
