Mendelssohn - Elijah
Yorkshire Philharmonic Choir
Yorkshire Philharmonic Choir begin their 70th Anniversary Season with one of the great choral masterpieces 'Elijah' by Mendelssohn, performed with full orchestra and soloists in the splendour of Wakefield Cathedral
The choir will be joined by the Amici Orchestra and acclaimed soloists Claire Rutter (sop), Gaynor Keeble (Alto), Austin Gunn (Tenor) and Alex Ashworth (Bass).
The story of Elijah from the Old Testament is as complex as it is interesting and Mendelssohn's interpretation of the various aspects, including the famous 'contest' between Elijah and the prophets of 'Baal', and Elijah's final transportation to Heaven in a 'fiery, fiery chariot' is thrilling to perform and to listen in the audience. This will be a performance to experience, so don't miss out
