Haddo Arts Festival 2022
Haddo Arts
The undoubted highlight of this year’s fully live programme is our concert on Friday 14th October and the World Premiere of “We Are Collective” in the presence its composer, Sir James MacMillan. This new piano quintet will be performed by The maxwell Quartet and Scottish pianist, Alasdair Beatson. It was commissioned by Haddo Arts, with co-commissioners Sound, Spitalfields and Cheltenham Music Festivals, as part of last year’s 10th anniversary celebrations. But there’s something for all tastes and ages during this year’s Festival.
The Royal Scottish National Orchestra’s new story telling piece, “Yoyo and the Little Auk” will entrance very young children and families, whilst the third instalment of our schools music project, “Song for Haddo: A Place to Play” is sure to delight audiences of all ages, and Doric Makar, Sheena Blackhall brings us songs, stories and poems.
Music lovers can catch The Maxwell Quartet in concert on Tuesday 11th October, Alasdair Beatson’s piano recital on Wednesday 12th October and, of course, the return of Haddo House Choral & Operatic Society on our opening night, Saturday 8th October, when they perform Rossini’s “Petite Messe Solennelle” in its original version accompanied by piano and harmonium.
