A CELEBRATION FOR RVW150
Horsham Music Circle
2022 celebrates the 150th birthday of Ralph Vaughan Williams. This concert is dedicated to his music and the programme will include the ever popular Lark Ascending in the original version for solo violin and piano, works for cello, organ, solo songs and choral pieces, together with the Phantasy Quintet and Nocturne & Scherzo (1906) and Nocturne (1904), all performed by local professional musicians, Zoe Eborn, Ian Gardner, Jill Elsworthy, Edward Dean, Jeremy Weaver, Anna Giddey, Adam Barker, Emily Marsden, Anna Cooper, Joe Giddey, and the Parish Church Choir. Also included are works by Ivor Gurney and Gordon Jacob both pupils of Vaughan Williams and choral music by his life long friend Gustav Holst. The audience will take part too, we hope, joining in and adding to the grandeur of the opening hymn, RVW’s arrangement of the The Old Hundreth and for the final work ‘For All the Saints’ composed by RVW for the English Hymnal.
