This Mass was premiered in the Royal Albert Hall in 1893. This is an opportunity to attend a concert of a rarely performed but interesting work. A review by the Guardian describes the opening Kyrie as a scene full of tension "but there's a hint of consolation towards the end of the movement and the Credo burst in on an eruption of joy - the most striking of several dramatic plays of light and shade".
