Didcot Concert Orchestra
Come and hear Didcot Concert Orchestra returning to Cornerstone for its second concert.
First hear a rarely performed tuneful gem - the Ballade in A minor - by Croydon composer Samuel Coleridge-Taylor, composed at the suggestion of Elgar. Then enjoy Jacqueline Johnson's exquisite playing of Elgar's ever-popular Cello Concerto - practically his last work, and full of mourning for a lost world after the first world war.
Jacqueline then treats us to an orchestration by world-famous cellist Lynn Harrell of Victor Herbert's short piano piece Yesterthoughts. We end the concert with Dvorak's happy Sixth Symphony, full of tunes you'll go home humming.
