ROSSINI PETITE MESSE SOLENELLE
Bedford Choral Society
A Mass. Yes - but not for performance in church!. Rossini intended this work to be performed in any venue other than a church. A more operatic mass is difficult to find (excepting the Verdi Requiem of course) and it is full of wonderful operatic style-melodies. Nevertheless it is, by Rossini's standards, solemn.
The scoring is unusual, quite quirky really, with just piano and harmonium in support. This work is entertaining, memorable and perfect to enjoy on a summer evening.
A delightful work for you to enjoy.
