Merchant Voices Summer Concert - Everyone Sang

Merchant Voices, Glasgow's award winning community choir, will perform the wonderful Mozart Requiem.  It was composed in Vienna in late 1791, but was unfinished at Mozart's death in December that year.  It was completed the following year by Franz Sussmayer, and the version the choir will perform was updated by Franz Beyer in the early 1970s.  The soloists performing with the choir will include Wilma McDougall, Jamie McDougall, Paul Keohone and Joanna Harries.   The choir will also perform a selection of contemporary popular pieces, including a newly commissioned setting of the Siegfried Sassoon poem, "Everyone Sang" describing the feelings of the men in the WW1 trenches on the announcement of the armistice in November 1918.
