JS Bach: Mass in B Minor

Durham Choral Society

JS Bach’s Mass in B Minor, completed in 1749, was one of his last compositions and is a firm favourite with choral societies in the UK and beyond.  The Mass was never performed in its entirety during Bach’s lifetime and the first documented complete performance was not until 1859 in Leipzig.   Since the 19th century it has been hailed as one of the greatest compositions in musical history.
