Spring Concert
Louth Choral Society
The first performance of a new work 'Sing to Me, Windchimes' by Owain Park.
This work is the result of a generous legacy from a choir member. Settings of 6 poems by Lyva Marty, Stella Benson, Sara Teasdale and A E Housman, are interspersed with piano interludes. This piece is very much in the English choral traditon of part-songs. Young British composer Owain Park has a varied musical life as a singer, organist, composer and conductor, and has already won many awards for his compositions, which have been broadcast on radio stations around the world. He will be conducting this premiere performance.
The concert also includes Requiem, and Cantique de Jean Racine, both by Gabriel Faure.
Louth Choral Society will be joined by young singers from Louth's St James's Church choir and King Edward VI School choir.
David Parker, piano, and the Lincolnshire Chamber Orchestra complete the line-up for this exciting concert, with Allan Smith directing the music.
Please note that for technical reasons the postcode directs to the Church office. St James's is, of course, a magnificent medieval church.
