Purbeck Arts Choir
UK PREMIERE PERFORMANCE OF “REQUIEM FOR HUMANITY” IN SWANAGE
At their Spring concert on 1st April 2017, the Purbeck Arts Choir will premiere Helen Ostafew’s “Requiem for Humanity”. Excerpts of this new work were performed at last year’s PAW Festival to great acclaim, but this will be the first opportunity in the UK to hear the whole requiem and Helen herself will be the soprano soloist with Mum and Dad also singing in the choir! Many people will know Helen from her involvement in the Swanage music scene when she was MD for Studland Youth Music Theatre and the Purbeck Players and also conducted the vocal group Five High. The choir will also be singing the ever-popular Faure Requiem.
The Stanford String Quartet (resident ensemble of the Purbeck Strings Festival) will accompany the choir with Daan Temmink (piano), Ashley John Long (double bass) and Simon Lole (organ) with soloists Grace Lovelass, Miro Vosper and David Fawcett completing the line-up.
The concert is in support of Marie Curie and will take place at 7.30pm in St Mary’s Church, Swanage on 1st April. Tickets are only £10 in advance (£12 on the door), from choir members, Corbens or Liz Roberts 01929 481419. Children and students free.
