Two Masses of 1922
Hampstead Chamber Choir
Messa di Requiem - Ildebrando Pizzetti Mass in G minor - Ralph Vaughan Williams The year 1922 saw the publication of Pizzetti's Messa Di Requiem and the first performance of Vaughan Williams' Mass in G minor. These two acappella masterpieces share a use of modal tonality and strong reference to plainchant and 16th century polyphony. Both use the choir to brilliant effect, dividing the singers into double and triple choruses with, in the case of the Mass in G minor, solo voices. Hampstead Chamber Choir will combine these two works in a performance in the stunning accoustic of St John-at-Hampstead.
