Autumn Concert 2016
Sutton Symphony Orchestra
Sutton Symphony Orchestra (SSO) returns to St Andrew’s, Cheam on Saturday 26th November for the winter concert of its 70th anniversary season. The programme features some lesser-known works plus a big favourite. It also features home-grown talent: the soloist being an alumnus of Sutton Music Service, now studying at the Royal College of Music.
The programme is:
Mendelssohn’s Ruy Blas Overture: an energetic work based on a Victor Hugo play.
Haydn’s Horn Concerto No. 1: Ollie De Carteret is soloist in this work written whilst Haydn was at the Court of Esterhazy.
Tchaikovsky's 5th Symphony: a “Romantic” piece with more swashbuckling tunes than your average Hollywood blockbuster.
7.30pm start, tickets from https://www.wegottickets.com/event/375522 or on the door: adults £10, under 18s free. Cakes at the interval – it is National Cake Day after all.
Sutton Symphony Orchestra (Conductor Philip Aslangul, Leader Annmarie McDade) rehearses on Tuesdays and provides an opportunity for local musicians to tackle ambitious orchestral works. SSO performs 3 concerts per year. If you are interested in joining, get in touch: http://www.suttonsymphonyorchestra.org/
