If music be the food of love...
Faversham Choral Society
Celebrating the 400th anniversary of his death, Shakespeare’s brilliance with words and the emotional intelligence of his work, not to forget the occasional insult (!) the choir (now in its 50th year) is creating their own musical tribute to our most treasured playwright.
Our Autumn concert: ‘If Music be the Food of Love’….features
no fewer than twelve plays and sonnets. Works to be performed range from the sublime George Shearing’s ‘Songs and Sonnets’, to 16th century madrigals, from Cole Porter’s Kiss Me Kate, to Tavener’s ‘Song for Athene’ and even extracts from Bernstein’s West Side Story.
If you’d like to be a part of this event, do buy a ticket but we also always welcome new members so just come along. Rehearsals are on Wednesday evenings from 7.45 - 9.45pm at the United Church Hall Preston St, Faversham - we break for the summer in mid-July.
