The William Byrd Singers: The Lark in the Clear Air
William Byrd Singers
Our musical summer takes us through the English and French countryside in the company of Finzi, Holst, Faure, Poulenc and our very own Stephen Wilkinson.
Folk songs and poetry settings describe nature, work, play, and of course love, both lost and found. On our journey we meet the blacksmith (kang kang), the weavers (no work today), the mischievous piper (wasna he a roguey?) and the lover whose heart soars with the lark.
With accompanied and a cappella choral works, solo songs and piano pieces; the William Byrd Singers, conducted by Keith Orrell, present "The Lark in the Clear Air" on Saturday 14 May at 7.30pm at Christ Church, West Didsbury M20 2ZD. Tickets are £10 (£9 concessions, £5 students) at the door or from choir members."
