Spring Concert by Rochester Choral Society

Rochester Choral Society

Scott Farrell will conduct Rochester Choral Society in this year's Spring Concert in the inspiring setting of Rochester Cathedral.

Rutter: Requiem
Pärt: The Beatitudes
Janáček: Otče Náš
Bernstein: Chichester Psalms

This programme has something for everyone: From Rutter’s heartfelt and deeply moving Requiem to the brash opening chords, infectious dance rhythms and contrasting lyrical sections of Bernstein’s Chichester Psalms. Janáček’s lively setting of the Lord’s Prayer is brightened throughout by the Moravian folk melodies that inspired many of his compositions. By contrast, Arvo Pärt has set the spiritually uplifting statements of The Beatitudes to sequences of austerely beautiful harmonies, building into a glorious organ finale which is perfectly complemented by the timeless magnificence of Rochester Cathedral. The choir will be supported by a chamber ensemble, percussion, vocal and instrumental soloists including harp and organ.
