Newcastle upon Tyne Bach Choir
Newcastle University's King's Hall is the venue for this concert, which will showcase the new organ as it accompanies this delightful programme of 20th century music. The Newcastle Bach Choir sings the Duruflé Requiem, James MacMillan's Magnificat and Nunc Dimittis, and Arvo Pärt's Salve Regina - all demonstrating the influence of plainsong in a 20th century setting, against the backdrop of the magnificent new organ (played by Magnus Williamson) and a string ensemble. Elgar's O Hearken Thou and his Serenade for Strings round off the concert in style. The fine soloists are Patrick Owston (baritone) and Rosanna Cooper (mezzo soprano).
