Webinar recording: Climate Change Network | Making Music

Webinar recording: Climate Change Network

For our seventh meeting in our Climate Network series (original event 9 May 2025), we heard from some inspiring speakers on some useful tools music groups could use to become more sustainable.

The speakers for this event were:

  • Jan-Willem Van Kruyssen, who shared examples of climate-related projects in which music has played an essential role in raising awareness, activating communities, fostering engagement and encouraging behavioural change and nature connectedness.
  • Chris Hutchings, from the web resource Choirs for Climate, and colleagues from Classical Declares which is part of Music Declares Emergency — they spoke of some practical ways in which we can all engage as musicians with the topic of climate change.
  • Sam Goldscheider, founder of Harmonic Progression, speaks about setting up a 'Green Project' at the verbierfestival where students get involved in various sustainability campaigns — as well as setting up the intiative Strings4All, where used strings are collected to donate to musicians around the world who aren't able to access new ones.

The views represented by the speakers in this webinar are their own, and do not represent the views of Making Music.
