The award-winning ladies’ barbershop chorus, the Cheshire Chord Company, will be performing on 31 May at the culmination of the Olympic Torch Relay celebrations in Warrington. The Making Music member group will perform in Warrington’s Orford Park.

The Lady Hilary Groves Prize is a Making Music award presented annually to an individual of a Making Music member group who has made significant positive impact on the musical life of their group or their wider community.

In the biggest event held in the Roman Amphitheatre on Saturday 3 March, Chester played host to more than 500 voices in what was described by the composer as a joyous performance of opera Across The World – A Giant Anthem. The concert was one of thirteen events led by Making Music member groups as part of Music Nation, a countdown event to the London 2012 Festival.
