St Martin's Chamber Music Competition

The Chamber Music Competition, run in association with Making Music, awards an outstanding young ensemble with performance opportunities.

The competition embodies St Martin’s commitment to the discovery, nurture and promotion of new and emerging musical talent and continues a long history of musical excellence and artistic contribution at the heart of London.

With the support of Making Music, the competition is able to offer winners the opportunity to establish and develop a performance profile throughout the UK. Through our collaboration, Making Music member groups can book the winning ensemble for an exclusive fee under our discounted artist scheme.

2016 winner: Pelléas Ensemble

The Pelléas Ensemble has a repertoire that spans the ages, from Bach to the present day and is active in commissioning and performing new music. Its three members have established a reputation for performing recitals from memory, creating an immediate, intimate connection with their audiences.

In 2016 the group won the Grand Prize in the St Martin in the Fields Chamber Music Competition and were finalists in the Royal Overseas League Chamber Music Competition and in 2015 won First Prize at the British Harp Chamber Music Competition.

The Ensemble members are Tillett Trust Artists, and will make their Wigmore Hall debut in November 2016.
