The competition embodies St Martin’s commitment to the discovery, nurture and promotion of new and emerging musical talent and continues a long history of musical excellence and artistic contribution at the heart of London. With the support of Making Music, the competition is able to offer winners the opportunity to establish and develop a performance profile throughout the UK. Through our collaboration, Making Music member groups can book the winning ensemble for an exclusive fee under our discounted artist scheme.
2014 winner: Aurea Quartet

Based in Glasgow, the Aurea Quartet comprises four prize-winning graduates of the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland (RCS). In its first year the quartet won joint first prize at the Cavatina Intercollegiate Chamber Music Competition, as well as winning all of the chamber music prizes at the RCS. Following a Wigmore Hall debut in February 2012, the ensemble was a finalist in the First Sándor Végh International String Quartet Competition.
