Sign up to sing carols with us in Trafalgar Square this Christmas

We are delighted to invite you to join us under the Christmas tree in Trafalgar Square on Wednesday 14 December, 5pm-6pm, to sing with us as part of our unique choir - the Making Music Christmas Stars.

Please note: the time of this event has changed; it was  originally 6pm to 7pm but is now 5pm to 6pm.

The choir will be formed of Making Music staff, members, volunteers and supporters. Accompanied by musicians, we will be performing popular carols from the Carols for Choirs books, and collecting funds to help us to continue championing participation in music making across the UK.

Anyone can join in, so don’t worry if you're not an expert singer – the emphasis is firmly on fun! We will be singing in four-part harmony and each line will be supported by an instrument in order to help us find our pitches. Or if you aren't confident about reading and singing harmony lines, you can choose to sing the tune. We welcome singers of any age and ability, so if you would like to bring friends and family along with you please feel free – the more the merrier!

What will I need to bring?
Harmony singers will need to bring either:

  • a copy of 100 Carols for Choirs, OR
  • copies of both Carols for Choirs 1 AND Carols for Choirs 2.

We will have plenty of word sheets available on the day if you choose to stick to the tune.

In mid-December (about a week before the event takes place) we will be sending out more specific details including a list of carols.

Please enter the name and preferred part of every singer who you are expressing an interest for (including yourself).
