Love is in the Air. A Concert of Madrigals and Love Songs

Join Aeolian Singers for this concert of madrigals as well as classical and modern love songs. Our varied programme includes Brahms’ Libeslieder Waltzes, dances which produce an amazing variety of moods through key, rhythm and dynamics. We also sing Six English Lyrics by Malcolm Williamson, Master of the Queens Music from 19775 to 2003, and several much loved madrigals including Gibbons’ The Silver Swan and Sweet Suffolk Owl by Vautor. The programme will include a piano solo, The Island by Frank Hutchens, performed by Anna le Hair and music performed by the Hollybush Recorder Consort. The final work will be Songs from the Bavarian Highlands by Edward Elgar. These six choral songs were written after Elgar and his wife Alice had spent their summer holiday in Bavaria. The words were written by Alice Elgar, based on traditional Bavarian folksongs, the music reflecting the happy times spent amongst splendid Alpine scenery. The performance will be conducted by Stephen Jones, Musical Director of Aeolian Singers, with Anna Le Hair on piano.
