Skill up your conducting and discover youth ensemble-friendly contemporary classical repertoire with Rebecca Miller & CoMA.
Conductor Rebecca Miller will lead a session tailored to teachers wishing to brush up & learn some basic conducting skills for leading their ensembles. Rebecca will also share tips & tricks on introducing contemporary music to an ensemble for the first time. She will offer practical advice on how to get your ensemble excited about experiencing new work and guidance for selecting contemporary classical repertoire appropriate for your group.
Participants are asked to bring their own instrument along to form a scratch ensemble which each teacher will then take turns conducting, under the guidance of Rebecca. There will also be time to ask Rebecca questions.
The repertoire for the session will be drawn from Contemporary Music for All (CoMA)’s extensive music catalogue: a collection of 900 works for flexible ensembles, appropriate for a range of ages and abilities from complete beginner to advanced player.
