Widely regarded as one of the most exciting and dynamic saxophone quartets currently active in the UK, The Laefer Quartet have received numerous awards including Park Lane Group Artists and the Elias Fawcett Ensemble Award for an Outstanding Ensemble in the 2017 Royal Overseas League Competition. Previously, they were also Making Music Selected Artists.
Formed in 2012 at the Royal College of Music, they were awarded the Boconnoc Music Award during their time there, and have since been performing across the UK and at metropolitan venues including the Elgar Room of the Royal Albert Hall and St James’ Piccadilly.
The quartet are experienced in a variety of genres, in particular contemporary classical repertoire and transcriptions of works by classical composers. Performance highlights have included the closing concert in Malta’s Three Palaces Festival; three world premieres as part of the Listenpony concert series. In addition, in January 2019 they gave their Purcell Room debut as part of the SoundState Festival.
