Congresbury Singers has performed Stainer's Crucifixion at many churches in North Somerset over recent years. This year All SAints' Church in Long Ashton has invited us to perform this favourtie on Tuesday 11 April at 8.00pm.
Sir John Stainer's Crucifixion has been a favourite of choirs and listeners from the moment it was written in 1887. This magnificent work includes some of the memorable hymn tunes we shall ever hear and the audience will have opportunities to join in with these.
Congresbury Singers is directed by Gordon Pullin, and will be joined for this performance by baritone Bruce Saunders, members of Long Ashton church choir and organist Matt Davies.
This is a free performance. There will be a retiring collection by the church.
