The Edge Chamber Choir will give the first complete performance of Cardiff composer Iain James Veitch’s Summer Days as part of a concert based on the changing seasons. Summer Days includes settings of two poems by local poet Mary Webb, and is for piano and choir, depicting the long lazy days of summer.
As the programme moves through the seasons, it offers music from a wide range of composers from Elgar, Ireland, Lili Boulanger and Poulenc, via the gorgeous Autumn Leaves by Joseph Kosma, to more recent writers such as Cecilia McDowall, Veljo Tormis, Joanna Marsh and concluding with a beautiful carol, In the Stillness by Sally Beamish.
Connecting with the Seasons theme of the concert, CSons (from the café on the Millennium Green and SourCed) will be providing an edible treat for concert-goers in the interval. Look out for further details of what this might be….
