Last Night of the Proms

Supporters of Huntingdonshire Philharmonic who love a bit of flag waving will be well catered for at the final concert of the season with full orchestra and choir on July 6th at 7.30pm.

The theme is ‘Last Night of the Proms’  and will feature all the usual ‘Prom’ favourites such as ‘Rule Britannia’,  ‘Jerusalem’  and Elgar’s Pomp and Circumstance March No 1 [‘Land of Hope and Glory’] with the opportunity to join in the singing.

The programme will also include Handel’s  ‘Zadok the Priest’ and other choral gems by British composers,  while the orchestra  will play Walton’s Battle of Britain Suite,  and Goodwin’s 633 Squadron.   Gershwin’s Piano Concerto, with pianist Robert Thompson, will also be a hugely enjoyable feature of the concert.

Mezzo soprano Susanne Dymott will also take part. [Britannia perhaps?!]

Hunts Phil Musical Director Bjorn Bantock will conduct, ably assisted by Chorus Master Lee Dunleavy.
