Following the retirement after 55 years of our longstanding director John Pomphrey, the Maia will be helmed by a new music director: Henry George Page.
Henry is an accomplished conductor, teacher, performer and musician, maintaining a diverse portfolio in singing, accompaniment, direction and continuo. He has conducted choral ensembles and societies for over ten years, and has a particular connection to choral singing, having joined his first choir at the age of five! Henry has a passion for making music accessible and is very excited to be leading the Maia Singers into a new era.
As an introduction to our new MD we will be holding a ‘Come and Sing’ day on Saturday 11th October. This will be open to all and we will be focusing on Mozart’s Requiem but also singing a range of other music that reflects our wide repertoire.
