Welcome to the twelfth Music@Malling Festival - a festival that promotes outstanding artists in historical venues in and around West Malling, Kent.
The festival runs from 21st September - 2nd October 2022 and celebrates an eclectic mix of music old and new! 450 years of music are explored ranging from works written during the Wars of the Roses through to world premieres of work by leading contemporary composers Howard Skempton and Deborah Pritchard.
Jazz events include The James Pearson Trio performing a tribute to jazz legend Dudley Moore, Callum Au and Friends exploring the great American Song Book and a tribute to living legend, Burt Bacharach.
2022 sees the launch of a collaboration with The National Trust with concerts at Ightham Mote. These include England Under the Tudors - a concert given by The Marian Consort which includes music by Sir William Haute who owned Ightham in the 15th Century. Two recitals explore early 19th century repertory on a piano from the 1830’s that belonged to the distinguished contralto Mary Postans - muse to the Mendelssohns.
Other highlights include concerts with the world-renowned Birmingham Contemporary Music Group; Ensemble Arcadiana performing Eleanor Alberga’s colourful and evocative music alongside Mozart chamber works and Fretwork performing music by Henry Purcell, Matthew Locke and Alexander Goehr.
World renowned tenor, Mark Padmore CBE performs songs by John Dowland and Franz Schubert with guitar virtuosos Morgan Szymanski in the stunning setting of All Saints’, Tudeley with its dazzling windows by Marc Chagall.
There are a wealth of concerts by top class instrumentalists and ensembles including The Fidelio Trio, Chamber Domaine, Sholto Kynock, Helen Charlston, Lizzie Ball, Steven Devine, Richard Harwood, Greta Mutlu, David Juritz, Daniel Grimwood and many others…
