Phoenix Choir of Crawley are looking forward to this exciting opportunity to sing under the baton of renowned composer, conductor and singer Bob Chicott, and we invite experienced choral singers to join us for what promises to be an inspirational and informative day of music making. We will work on two Chilcott compositions - Five Days that Changed The World and Songs My Heart Has Taught Me. Five Days ...takes us on a musical journey through five events: The invention of printing, the abolition of slavery, the first powered flight, the discovery of penicillin, the first man in space. In each movement, words and music come together to create a strikingly vivid and personal account of each protagonist's experience, from the printer seeing 'each letter like a person' to the astronaut commenting on the beauty of our planet from space. Songs ... is a passionate four-movement work, in which Bob and lyricist Delphine Chalmers explores themes of inclusivity, identity and unity. We will be learning the movements from scratch, with the afternoon culminating in a performance of the music learnt. The workshop fee of £25 includes hot and cold drinks and biscuits during breaks, cakes in the afternoon, and score hire. Bookings are via Eventbrite (with NO booking fee).
