Reflective, aspirational and inspirational music for these troubled times
2022 marks the 350th anniversary of the death of one of the greatest musicians in European music history – Heinrich Schütz. Even his contemporaries saw him as “parens nostrae musicae modernae” – the father of our modern music – as well as “saeculi sui musicus excellentissimus” – “the most outstanding musician of his century.” Several of his exquisite motets punctuate our programme, including Unser Herr Jesus Christ in der nacht.
