Armistice Day Centenary Concert

Tickets are now on sale for our autumn concert to mark the 100th anniversary of the end of World War 1.

For this Armistice Centenary Concert, we are thrilled to be performing the world premiere of a new composition by our Musical Director, Benjamin Wolf.   ‘Armistice’ was specially composed for the occasion.  The contemplative work combines arrangements of popular World War 1 songs with haunting war poems and sacred funerary texts set to original music.

We will also be performing ‘The Spirit of England’– Sir Edward Elgar’s requiem to the millions of war dead.  Set to the poems of Laurence Binyon, it was composed and had its first performance while Europe was still being ravaged by war.

In addition, the programme will include work by Finzi, Ravel, Fauré and Schubert.

The Zemel Choir will be joined by The Royal Free Music Society and members of the Wallace Ensemble.  The soloists are Charlotte-Anne Shipley and Edmund Hastings.

We do hope you can join us at 7.30pm on Sunday 18th November at Hampstead Garden Suburb Free Church, London NW11 7AA.

Tickets (£15 - or £10 for full-time students/unwaged) are available online at https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/rfms  – or at the door for the same price.
