City of Norwich Brass Band

Formed in 2014 from musicians located across Norfolk, City of Norwich Brass has quickly become known as ‘one to watch’ on the national brass band contest circuit. In their first year of existence, the band became London & Southern Counties regional champions in the 4th Section. By 2018, the band were regional champions of the 3rd section, and in 2022 year became 2nd section champions. The band rehearses in Hethersett, Norwich.

Norfolk-born Musical Director Robin Norman took the baton last year. Robin was awarded ‘Most Outstanding Soloist’ in the National Concert Band Festival in 1990, at the age of 16. Robin studied Tuba at the Birmingham Conservatoire and graduated in 1995 with a first-class Bachelor of Music Honours degree. Robin has since played with many of the country’s best known brass bands such as Grimethorpe Colliery, Brighouse and Rastrick, Leyland, Flowers and GUS (with whom he was solo Eb Tuba for 12 years). He is now Director of Music at Springwood High School and for the West Norfolk Academies Trust where he leads music in 4 secondary schools and 9 primary schools
