Symphonic Wind Orchestra of North London | Making Music

Symphonic Wind Orchestra of North London

We are a vibrant, welcoming, wind orchestra based in East Finchley, dedicated to creating a warm and engaging musical experience through regular concerts throughout the year.

Our diverse repertoire spans classical, musical theatre, folk, opera, modern and contemporary genres including rock and pop, ensuring a varied and enriching journey for both our performers and audiences alike.

We are committed to performing new music, and as part of our 25th Anniversary celebrations, we held a major composition competition. We awarded prized to four fantastic new pieces from national and international composers, providing our members with the challenging and rewarding opportunity to perform brand new works throughout 2024 and 2025.

We showcase our talents in at least three concerts annually in North London, and take our music to bandstands throughout the city, and we embark on tours across the UK and beyond.

We believe that music should be accessible to everyone. We welcome members of all skill levels and do not require auditions. If you’re looking to rekindle your musical passion after a long break, you’ll find a supportive home with us as many of our members do the same!

Come and join us on Wednesday evenings from 8 to 10 pm during term time at Martin Primary School in East Finchley. Rehearsals are a great mix of focussed playing and community building, and we always have tea and cake during the break!
