Vacancy Type:
Application deadline:
Friday, 11 January 2019
Description of vacancy:
The Esterhazy Singers of London

Building on their successful choral scholarship scheme for young singers, the Esterhazy Singers are pleased to invite applications for their 2019 awards. This is an excellent opportunity for a young person to gain invaluable experience in choral singing both as ensemble member and soloist.

The choir is based in the City of London under the inspirational leadership of Andrea Brown who was elected as Musical Director of the choir at the end of 2016.  Andrea is a highly experienced choral conductor, currently Head of Choral Conducting at RWCMD, with a professional singing background.

Successful applicants will receive £750 per annum, paid in 3 equal parts after each term (2019 calendar year).  There are normally 4 or 5 public performances a year.  Choral scholars will be expected to attend regular rehearsals, usually on Tuesdays at 19:00 at St. Magnus the Martyr on Lower Thames Street, and to sing at all performances including all solos.  There will also be opportunities for further development of skills in choral leadership and conducting specific to each candidate’s experience.

Applicants should be between 18 and 25 years old and ideally should be considering a career in solo and ensemble singing or just starting in that field.  Applications in all voice parts will be considered.

A CV with covering letter and one musical  reference are required.  Shortlisted applicants will be asked to join a rehearsal at the beginning of 2019 when there will be an audition with Andrea Brown and a short meeting with two members of the choir’s committee.

Those interested should apply by email: treasurer@esterhazysingers.com   Applications should be received no later than Friday 11th January.  Shortlisted candidates will be required to audition on the afternoon/evening of Tuesday 15th January.
