About the choir:

Established in 1975, the Festival Chorus is a choral society of over 100 voices based in Clapham South.

The choir performs termly and is one of the most established and accomplished amateur choruses in South London. We perform a range of big traditional choral pieces along with a mixture of newer works.

The role:

We are looking for an experienced choral accompanist to start in late September. The role is to play for rehearsals on a Monday evening (7.45-9.45pm) and occasional Saturday mornings during term times, with the potential to play piano, organ or harpsichord in concerts, where appropriate. It is desirable, but not essential that the successful candidate will be able to lead sectional rehearsals, as well as cover when the Musical Director is not available.

Essential:

  • Skilled pianist, with experience of playing a diverse range of music, including orchestral reductions
  • Experience of accompanying choral rehearsals
  • Excellent communication skills

Desirable:

  • Experience of teaching/leading amateur singers
  • Ability to play the organ

The fee is £50 per hour

Appointment will be made following a trial rehearsal and short interview
