Description of vacancy:
Serenata Women’s Choir is an auditioned choir with currently around thirty members. We rehearse on a Thursday evening in St John’s and King’s Park Parish Church, Dalkeith, from January to May, and Mayfield Parish Church, Dalkeith from September to the beginning of December.
We perform two concerts a year, at the beginning of May and the beginning of December. There are occasionally other smaller scale commitments. Our concerts are held in St John’s and King’s Park Church, and are well attended.
The repertoire covers a wide range of music, and our singers always strive for excellence. The choir is a very friendly group, and we have a lot of fun, whilst still taking our music learning seriously.
Our accompanist, who has been with us since the choir started in 2016 is stepping down, so we are seeking candidates who could take on the accompanist role from September 2024.
The ability to sight-read, accompany vocal warm ups and score read is essential, and previous experience of accompanying choirs is desirable.
Remuneration, in the form of rehearsal and concert fees, will be agreed with the preferred applicant.
