Description of vacancy: 

The successful applicant will be an experienced piano-accompanist, confident in playing music in multiple genres from the renaissance to the present day, capable of both sight reading and playing from open score.They will be able to single-handedly take rehearsals in case of the indisposition of the Musical Director (in which case higher fees apply). The choir rehearses at St Andrew's Methodist Church, Sheringham on Monday evenings 19:15 - 20:45. The rehearsal stipend begins at £65. The successful applicant will be engaged as a self-employed contractor.  SCCS is a registered charity, managed by a committee of seven Trustees plus a small number of appointed Officers.

Plans for 2025/26 include Brahms' 'Ein Deutsches Requiem' in the London version for piano duet, Beethoven's 'Mass In C' with orchestra, and a celebration of the sesquicentennial of Samuel Sebastian Wesley.

SCCS is a 75-strong society founded in 1933. David Ballard MA, ARCO, LTCL has been its Musical Director sonece 2016. In that time SCCS has performed premieres of works by Thomas Hewitt Jones ('Seasons', 2022) and Andrew Weeks ('Hope', 2023)  and has given regional premieres of works by Matthew Coleridge ('Requiem, 2019) and Graham Keitch ('O Lux Beatissima', 2018). It has performed much of the core choral canon alongside thematic programmes of shorter works. SCCS performs four concerts annually, one being a Christmas offering, featuring soloists of both local and national repute.

Many of these concerts are accompanied by orchestra. This position dies not include concert performances; however SCCS would consider the abilities of the appointee favourably when it comes to concert bookings, for which separate fees are payable.
