The Equalities and Human Rights Commission consultation – your chance to have your say.

The Equalities and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) has launched a consultation on updates to its Code of Practice for services, public functions and associations. This follows the Supreme Court’s judgement on the definition of terms 'man', 'woman' and 'sex' in the Equality Act 2010 on 16th April.

Ann-Marie Knight, Musical Director of the North Herts Ladies Choir, talks to us about the group's very first anniversary.

The choir celebrated a hugely fun and successful first year of activity with an energetic gospel workshop on 28 February 2025, ran by the highly enthusiastic singer, Musical Director and workshop leader, Elaine Simpson. The workshop capped off a wonderful first year which saw the choir attend their first choir festival, host their first Christmas concert and perform at local events in their hometown, Letchworth Garden City.

Sebastian Farrall, a treasured figure in Coventry and Warwickshire's music scene, has died at the age of 32 following a tragic cycling accident on his birthday, 30 March 2025.

Seb, who lived in Coventry with his wife Fran and their 21-month-old daughter Maisy, was a dynamic and much-loved conductor, composer, arranger, and musical director. A fierce advocate for community music and inclusion, his loss is being felt deeply by his family, friends and the countless musicians and singers whose lives he touched.

Elizabeth Twining, member of Axminster and District Choral Society, tells us how their group is celebrating 40 years of singing.

In February 1985, an enthusiastic group organised a ,Come and Sing Messiah, in the recently-reordered Minster Church. The event was a great success, and shortly afterwards Axminster and District Choral Society was established.
