Back in 2021, I joined a wonderful online community, a group of amateur singers from around the world who recorded music together online. What began as a lockdown experience of singing together soon became the Stay at Home Choir*, with nearly 30,000 singers: the world’s largest virtual choir.

Windsor Castle reception recognises Making Music members

In April, Making Music staff and member groups attended a reception at Windsor Castle, given and attended by His Majesty The King.

The celebration was to recognise the supporters of community music across the UK – the groups and organisations, but also the volunteer organisers, the leaders and the musicians themselves. Our Chair Rhiannon Harrison, Finance Director Helen Evans and Manager in Scotland Alison Reeves attended; all musicians in the leisure time music community as well as representatives of the association.

Streetwise Opera wins prestigious Impact Award, while The Pink Singers and Wolverhampton Symphony Orchestra were amongst the shortlisted nominees for the Inspiration Award at the 2025 RPS Awards.
