A special concert introducing De Merc Chamber Choir’s new musical director, Simon Pettite.
De Merc Chamber Choir’s summer concert Songs of Spring and Summer will be held at St Peter’s Church in Roydon. It will be the first concert introducing De Merc’s new musical director, Simon Pettite. The concert will include sacred and secular choral music by, amongst others, Tallis, Stanford and Elgar.
Simon Pettite is an internationally recognised Chorus Director and Choir Trainer. He studied at Cambridge University and the Royal College of Music. Professional engagements include the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden (as a regular freelance member of the Music Staff) and as Guest Conductor, Choral Director, and Assistant Musical Director at a range of organisations in Iceland, Antwerp, and Germany, as well as regular collaborations at Opera North.
Simon has built a long-standing career in Germany as the Assistant Opera Chorus Director at Frankfurt Opera and Opera Conductor and Chorus Director at the Municipal Theatre at Freiburg im Breisgau.
We are very much looking forward to our first concert with Simon as Musical Director of the de Merc Chamber Choir. We are all keen to showcase the wonderful work we have done together and highlight the beautiful unaccompanied choral works to our audience.
