Morpeth Music Society concert: Pocket Sinfonia | Making Music

Morpeth Music Society concert: Pocket Sinfonia

Programme (on occasion, the artists may make minor changes to the published programme)

Salieri arr. Corr Overture to Les Danaides

Mozart arr. Clementi Jupiter Symphony

Grieg arr. Corr Holberg Suite

Prokofiev arr. Corr Symphony No 1 'Classical'

Pocket Sinfonia is a young ensemble aiming to reinterpret orchestral masterpieces for chamber music. They will bring a varied programme featuring arrangements by their talented violinist Eleanor Corr as well as Clementi's arrangement of Mozart's Jupiter Symphony. This ensemble comes with great recommendations from other music societies so we can look forward to a most enjoyable evening.

  • Rosie Bowker – flute
  • Eleanor Corr – violin
  • Thomas Isaac – cello
  • Emil Duncumb – fortepiano/piano

'In terms of sheer energy, the palm must go to Pocket Sinfonia, who managed to make Mozart’s brilliant Haffner Symphony burst with the energy of an orchestra; what’s more, the little pauses from pianist Emil Duncumb infused it with a real chamber-style rhythmic pliability.”

– Ivan Hewett, The Telegraph
