City of Newport Symphony Orchestra

City of Newport Symphony Orchestra (CNSO) is an enthusiastic amateur orchestra with members of a variety of backgrounds. We strive to provide a balance between fun and informality whilst embracing the desire to improve skills and be able to perform as a coherent and confident group. The orchestra has always been a not-for-profit community group, and is now a registered charity (Registered Charity Number: 1193399). We have a paid professional conductor (Anna Beresford; https://www.cnso.org.uk/conductor.html) and leader of the first violins (Jane Sinclair; https://www.cnso.org.uk/orchestra-leader.html) to lead the orchestra musically and assist in developing skill and diversifying repertoire. The orchestra gives 3 large performances per year, and through building links with the community also takes on additional engagements for small group performances. Occasional workshops also take place. The orchestra is committee led, with suggestions and feedback welcomed from members and audiences alike.
